Photo Contests
For your convenience, we've compiled a small list of photo contests in which you may be interested to participate.
- Photographer of the Year Competition
- The International Photography Awards
conducts two parallel competitions each year - one for professional
photographers, who earn the majority of their livelihood from their
craft and a second for nonprofessional or amateur shutterbugs - open
to photographers from every country of the world.
- The Everyman Photo Contest
- The Everyman believes that anyone who has ever taken pictures in their life,
has taken good pictures. One of the primary differences between professional
and non-professional photographers is how reliably they can get the
good shot. Because, photography, like any art, is meant to capture a
moment, convey a feeling, tell a story, it is erroneous to believe that
in order for a photo to be effective or artistic it must have formal
composition, ideal lighting or, and most importantly, be taken by a
professional.
- The Environmentally Aware Photographic Image Competition
- EPIC, Environmentally aware Photographic Image Competition, was the first
image competition that rewarded underwater photographers and videographers
for environmental sensitivity. Many contests are now incorporating the
EPIC environmental guidelines and for this we thank them. EPIC is presented
yearly.
- National Juried Photography Competition
- Hosted by The Camera Club of
New York, this competition attracts some very nice submissions,
many from the San Francisco Bay Area. The First, Second, Third place
and entries of honorable mention (5) are included in a group exhibition
at the Camera Club of New York.
